Poor WhatsApp call quality

Check the specific scenario when the WhatsApp fault occurs.

Poor WhatsApp voice call quality

  1. If the network signal is poor or interference is strong, the call may be interrupted now and then, or noise may occur. If possible, move to somewhere with good network signals and try again.
  2. If the voice call volume is too low, you can turn up the media volume by going to Settings > Sounds > Media, and try making voice calls again.
  3. Check whether the voice call function of other apps is normal. If so, restart your phone, or back up your data and update your phone to the latest version.
  4. If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.

Poor WhatsApp video call quality

  1. If the network signal is weak or the network speed is low, the image may be blurry or may even freeze. In this case, switch to a stable network and try again.
  2. Check the running requirements of WhatsApp for software and hardware. The call quality may be poor if your device does not meet the requirements. (For example, if the resolution of the mobile phone is too low, the app may be incompatible, or the image becomes blurry or freezes.)
  3. During a video call, maintain an appropriate distance from the front camera. The front camera supports a fixed focal length, so if you're too close to (< 30 cm) or too far away from (> 50 cm) the camera, the image definition will decrease.
  4. If the light is insufficient, the image may be blurry. Try to make video calls in an environment with sufficient light, and keep your phone stable during the video call.
  5. Check whether the video shot by the front camera is blurry.
    1. If the video image is blurry when you use the pre-installed Camera app, perform the following steps:
      1. Check whether the front camera lens is dirty.
      2. Check whether the camera lens area is blocked or covered by a protective film.
      3. Check whether the ambient light is sufficient.
      4. If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
    2. If the video image is normal when using the pre-installed Camera app, but the video call is blurry in WhatsApp, you can report the issue to the app developers directly by going to WhatsApp > > Settings > Help > Contact us.

6. If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
