My HUAWEI watch/kids watch frequently disconnects from a Wi-Fi network

Cause

  • The Wi-Fi network is unstable.
  • The Wi-Fi signal in the area where the watch is located is weak.
  • The watch is automatically disconnected due to its power saving design.

Solution

  1. Check whether the Wi-Fi network is normal.

Connect your phone to the Wi-Fi network (disable mobile data if necessary) and check whether there are any network connection issues. If so, contact the router manufacturer for troubleshooting.

  2. Check the Wi-Fi signal strength in the area where your watch is located.

Move to an area with a good Wi-Fi signal, connect the watch to the network, and check the Wi-Fi signal strength ().

  3. Check whether the watch automatically disconnects from the Wi-Fi network.

    HUAWEI WATCH Series/Ultimate 2 watches

    • When the watch screen is off or the watch is in AOD mode, and no Wi-Fi services are being used (such as online music playback or app downloads), the watch will automatically disable Wi-Fi to saver power.
    • Wi-Fi will be automatically enabled when the screen is turned on again, and the watch will reconnect to the Wi-Fi network when there are Wi-Fi services.
    • If the watch is in Ultra-long Battery Life mode, Wi-Fi will not be enabled, and the watch will not reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.
    • When the watch screen is off and the watch is frequently woken up with no active services, Wi-Fi will be disabled. The same happens when the watch is not worn and its screen is off. The watch will automatically enable Wi-Fi when you tap the screen or press a button to turn on the screen.
    • When you transfer watch faces, offline maps, or golf course maps larger than 5 MB using the Huawei Health app, Wi-Fi will be disabled on the watch. It will be automatically enabled once the transfer is complete.

    HUAWEI kids watches

Note: This applies regardless of the admin's phone system.

    • When the mobile data services of the kids watch are working properly, the kids watch is not charging, and there are no Wi-Fi services are being used (such as audiobook playback or app downloads), the watch will automatically disable Wi-Fi 5 minutes after the screen turns off to save power.
    • Wi-Fi will be automatically enabled when you press a button to turn on the screen or charge the watch, and the watch will reconnect to the Wi-Fi network when there are Wi-Fi services. This is normal and does not indicate an issue with your watch.
    • Wi-Fi will be disabled in any of the following scenarios to save power and the watch will reconnect to the Wi-Fi network after exiting the following scenarios:
      1. Enabling Class time
      2. Entering Night mode (from 22:00 to 6:30 the next day)
      3. Entering Ultra Power Saving mode
      4. With low battery levels (under 10%)
      5. Triggering thermal protection
