My HUAWEI phone/tablet consumes much power when the screen is off at night

Problem:

The phone/tablet consumes much power in standby mode at night.

Cause:

  1. The device frequently switches between or searches for networks, and mobile data is not disabled. As a result, the device won't enter Sleep mode and background apps frequently wake up the device.
  2. Always On Display (AOD) is enabled.
  3. The device is connected to another device (is connected to watch/band via Bluetooth or other methods, or is used to charge other devices via OTG) at night with the screen off.

Solution:

  1. Swipe down from the upper right corner of the phone/tablet screen to open Control Panel, enable Airplane mode, and disable Wi-Fi and AOD. Then close power-intensive apps in the background.
  2. Go to Settings > Home screen & style > Always On Display, touch the four-dot icon in the upper right corner of the screen (which may not be available on some phones), and select Smart.
  3. Disconnect external devices.

If the power consumption is still high in Airplane mode when the screen is off, back up your data in advance, and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
