How to update apps?

Apps need to be updated periodically so that the security or stability issues can be improved.

Update apps from Google Play Store

a. Auto-update apps

Set your apps to be updated automatically by going to Menu > Settings > Auto-update apps in Google Play Store.

Select Do not auto-update apps, Auto-update apps at any time (data charges may be caused), or Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi according to your needs.

b. Update apps manually

  1. Go to Google Play Store and tap Menu in the upper left corner.
  2. Tap My Apps on the pull-out menu.
  3. Tap an individual app to install its updated version, or tap Update All to download the corresponding updated versions of all apps.

Update apps from Huawei AppGallery

  1. Open Huawei AppGallery from your home screen.
  2. Tap Manager from the bottom of the page.
  3. Find Updates, at the top and access it.
  4. You can see Auto-update over Wi-Fi and Update manually from this page.

    a. Auto-update apps

Auto-update over Wi-Fi on HUAWEI phones is enabled by default. Make sure the battery level is above 30% and the phone is connected to Wi-Fi during charging.

There are also apps recommended for automatic update shown in UPDATE RECOMMENDED. There is a reminder at the bottom of the same page, which shows how much data is needed to update these apps. Tap the reminder to auto-update these apps at one time or only select apps you need to update. These updates will be installed when your phone is connected to Wi-Fi.

    b. Update apps manually

For some apps, the manual update is required for certain reasons like you may have to uninstall the old version first.

Tap Update manually to check whether there are updates available.
