Unable to update the BIOS or system, or use F10 to restore the computer to its factory settings after I set BitLocker encryption on my HUAWEI computer

Problem

When the user updates the BIOS or system or uses F10 to restore the computer to its factory settings, the system prompts Enter the recovery key for this drive.

Cause

If you have used the BitLocker to encrypt the C drive, data in this drive cannot be modified. In this case, you will be prompted with error messages when using F10 to restore the computer to its factory settings, or update the BIOS or system.

Solution

  1. Search for Control Panel and open Control Panel.

  2. Go to System and Security > BitLocker Drive Encryption to disable BitLocker for the C drive or disable BitLocker.

BitLocker drive encryption is only available in Windows Pro.

    To enable it:

Click the Windows icon and go to Settings > Privacy & security > Device encryption > On.

  3. Back up your data, restart your computer, press and hold or press consecutively F10 to restore the computer to its factory settings, or update the system and BIOS, and check whether this issue has been resolved.
