My HUAWEI wearable device fails to link with the Huawei Health app for the first pairing attempt |
Refer to the instructions on how to pair and connect your wearable device with a HUAWEI or third-party Android phone or with an iPhone.
If pairing still fails, try the following to troubleshoot.
1. Enable the location permission for the Huawei Health app
Check that your Huawei Health app is of the latest version. If not, update the app or download its latest version.
- iPhones (taking iOS 13.0 as an example): Go to Settings > HUAWEI Health > Location, and set ALLOW LOCATION ACCESS to Always. (When using HUAWEI Health for the first time, you'll need to start a workout to trigger the location permission request.)
- HUAWEI phones running EMUI: Go to Settings > Apps & services/Apps > Apps > Huawei Health > Permissions, and enable Location (Allow all the time is recommended).
- Third-party Android phones: Go to Settings > Apps > App management > Huawei Health > Permission management, and grant the permissions for accessing Location (Always allowed is recommended) and Nearby devices (Allowed is recommended, and if it's already Allowed you'll need to switch to Forbidden before setting it to Allowed again).
Actual UI may vary depending on your phone model and OS version. You can also consult with the phone's manufacturer for assistance.
2. Enable location services or GPS on your phone
- iPhones (taking iOS 13.0 as an example): Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services, and toggle on the switch.
- HUAWEI phones (taking EMUI11.0 as an example): Go to Access my location, touch Advanced settings, and enable Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning.
- Third-party Android phones (taking Samsung S20 that runs Android 11-based One UI 3.0 as an example): Go to Settings > Location and tap the Location switch to turn it on.
3. Delete all previously paired wearables
Check whether any paired wearables display in the Bluetooth list on your phone, and check whether your wearable device has been paired with other phones. Delete such pairing records if there are any, then disable and re-enable Bluetooth on your phone, and try again.
4. Restart your phone and wearable device
If pairing still fails, restart your phone and wearable device, then try again.
5. Restore your phone's network settings
A network settings reset will not erase any important data on your phone, but will only erase all previously paired Bluetooth devices and all previously connected WLAN and mobile data networks. Restore your phone's network settings, restart your phone, and try pairing again.
- HUAWEI phones (taking EMUI 11.0 as an example): Go to Reset network settings at the bottom. , and touch
- iPhones (taking iOS 13.0 as an example): Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
- Third-party Android phones (taking Xiaomi phones as an example): Go to Settings > Connection & sharing > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile networks, and Bluetooth, and touch Reset settings at the bottom. The actual UI shall prevail.
6. Uninstall and reinstall the Huawei Health app
Before uninstalling the app, go to Huawei Health > Me > Privacy management, and toggle on Sync personal info to cloud, Sync fitness data to cloud, and Sync health data to cloud. Then return to the Me screen, go to Settings > Sync data manually, touch SYNC, and wait till the progress bar reaches 100%. Then you can uninstall and reinstall Huawei Health, and try pairing your devices again.
7. Restore to factory settings
Restore your wearable device to its factory settings and pair it with your phone again. A factory reset will clear all data on your wearable device. Please exercise caution before proceeding.
