What are the differences between GPS positioning and base station positioning? |
During GPS positioning, the built-in GPS module of a mobile phone sends the location information of the phone to the positioning background system.
During base station positioning, a telecom network provider's base station calculates the distance to a mobile phone to determine the location of the phone.
GPS positioning uses satellites and is power-intensive. It is accurate but cannot be used indoors. Base station positioning is less accurate but can be used indoors.
