The voice is muffled or noises are heard during calls in receiver mode

If the voice is muffled or other noises are heard during calls in Receiver mode, check if the issue occurs only with calls to certain persons or with all the calls. If you are experiencing this issue only with calls to specific people, the device of the person you are calling may be faulty. If the issue occurs with all the calls, increase the call volume and put the call on speaker.

I. If putting the call on speaker resolves the issue on your part, there may be a problem with the receiver of your device. If so, adjust the way you are holding your phone in order to hear the other part more clearly. Also, make sure that the receiver hole is not blocked by the screen protector or that it is not covered with dirt or dust. In this case, please remove the screen protector or replace it with one that fits your phone and gently clean the receiver hole with a soft brush. If you are making or receiving calls in a noisy environment, we recommend you to use a headset. If none of the above solved the issue, please back up your data and take your device and proof-of-purchase to an authorised HUAWEI Customer Service Centre or contact HUAWEI Customer Services for further assistance.

II. If putting the call on speaker resolves the issue for the other party, there may be a problem with the primary microphone of your device. If so, please make sure that the microphone hole* is not blocked or covered with dirt or dust. In this case, gently clean it with a soft brush. Also, ensure that your mouth is no more than 10 cm (about 4 in.) away from the microphone during a call.If the issue persists, please back up your data and take your device and proof-of-purchase to an authorised HUAWEI Customer Service Centre or contact HUAWEI Customer Services for further assistance.*Generally, the primary microphone is located at the bottom of the phone.

III. If putting the call on speaker does not resolve the issue at all, please try the troubleshooting steps below:

- the quality of the call may be affected by strong interference or a weak network signal. Move to another location and try making the call again.

- the quality of VoLTE calls may be affected if you are in an area that is not fully covered by your VoLTE network or if there are compatibility issues. Try enabling or disabling VoLTE HD calls.

If VoLTE HD calls option is enabled, swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel, touch and hold the Mobile data icon, then deactivate this feature. If VoLTE HD calls option is disabled, contact your carrier to confirm that your SIM card is subscribed to the VoLTE HD voice service. Then swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel, touch and hold the Mobile data icon to enter the settings screen, and enable VoLTE HD calls. If the option is not displayed, your device does not support the VoLTE service provided by your carrier. Also, some device models have already enabled VoLTE by default, so the option is missing.

- if you are using a 3rd party app to make a call, make sure that your device has a normal Internet connection.

- if you and the other party are too close to each other, this may affect the call quality. Please ensure that you maintain a sufficient distance from each other when making a call.

If none of the above solved the issue, please back up your data and take your device and proof-of-purchase to an authorised HUAWEI Customer Service Centre or contact HUAWEI Customer Services for further assistance.
