Always On Display doesn't take effect on my HUAWEI phone

Always On Display is only supported on certain phone models. If you can't find the Always On Display option in Settings, it means that the feature isn't supported on your phone.

If your phone supports Always On Display but no date or time is displayed when the phone screen is turned off, perform the following to troubleshoot:

1. Conditions for using the Always On Display feature

  • Make sure that your phone is charging or the battery level is higher than 10%. The phone's battery level is lower than 10%. In this case, Always On Display is made unavailable to extend battery life.
  • Disable Ultra power saving mode or Power Saving mode, as the Always On Display feature will be unavailable when they are enabled to reduce power consumption.
  • Always On Display does not work when the flip cover is closed.

2. Check the Always On Display settings

For EMUI 14.0 and later versions: Go to Settings > Home screen & style > Always On Display, and touch in the upper right corner. If you would like this feature to remain in effect, select All day.

For versions earlier than EMUI 14.0, go to Settings > Home screen & wallpaper > Always On Display and enable Always On Display again. Then, touch Display mode, and select All day if you would like this feature to remain in effect.

Full-screen AOD does not support full-day display. Switch to another lock screen mode and try again.

If the display mode is set to scheduled or all-day display, the system will automatically detect when your phone enters Sleep mode and turn off the AOD.

3. Check whether the proximity sensor is obstructed

Always On Display will not take effect when the proximity sensor at the top of your phone is obstructed. In this case, your phone assumes that it is in a pocket or bag.

4. Check whether a third-party theme or font is being used, or if the font size has been changed

  • Third-party themes and fonts may affect the Always On Display feature. It is recommended that you use the pre-installed themes and fonts instead.
  • If you have adjusted the Text size, Display size, or scale on your phone, it is recommended that you switch to Normal or Default.

5. If the issue remains unresolved

If the issue remains unresolved or you encounter any difficulties, please contact the Huawei customer service hotline for assistance. We will do our best to address your needs.
