Enabling file/folder encryption in Windows 10 Pro |
The encryption function is supported in Windows 10 Pro and not in Windows 10 Home.
- Right-click the file or folder and select Attributes.
- Go to General > Attributes > Advanced and enable Encrypt contents to secure data. Click OK. Then click OK on the Properties window.
- Select Apply changes to this folder only or Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files, then click OK.
- After the folder is encrypted, there will be a lock icon displayed on the folder so other users are not allowed to view this folder.
To decrypt the folder, go to General > Attributes > Advanced and disable Encrypt contents to secure data. Click OK.
