Low volume level or different volume levels between left and right HUAWEI earphones

If the volume in both earphones is low when the earphones are connected to a phone/PC to play music, troubleshoot as follows:

  1. Ensure that the earphones' firmware is up to date.
  2. Enable Sync volume with phone or Bluetooth absolute volume on your phone/tablet.

When some earphones are paired with a phone, Sync volume with phone is enabled by default. If it does not work, disable and re-enable it and try again.

If you are using FreeClip, adjust the earphones so that the acoustic balls face towards your ear canals. Enable Bluetooth, go to > More settings > Settings , and enable Extra media volume.

    System

    Method

    HarmonyOS 2.0 or later

On your phone/tablet, go to Settings > Bluetooth, touch the icon next to the target earphones, and enable Sync volume with phone.

    • The status of the Sync volume with phone switch is only valid for the currently connected device.
    • Some Bluetooth earphones do not support absolute volume adjustment. In this case, the Sync volume with phone switch is not available.

    EMUI 11.0 or earlier

    1. Go to Settings > About phone (or Settings > About tablet), and touch Build number seven times consecutively until the message "You are now a developer!" is displayed.
    2. Return to the Settings screen, go to System & updates > Developer options and enable Bluetooth absolute volume.
    3. Disable and re-enable Bluetooth on your phone/tablet, and then connect the earphones to your phone/tablet.

    Non-HUAWEI devices

    Consult the device vendor.

  3. Swipe up on the earphones to increase the volume to an appropriate level.

    • Volume adjustment is supported only on the following models: FreeBuds 5, FreeBuds Pro 2, FreeBuds 5i, FreeBuds Lipstick, FreeBuds 4, and FreeBuds Pro.
    • Volume adjustment may not be synced between your device and earphones. In this case, increase the volume on both your device and earphones. For more information, see Use the earphones or speaker to adjust the volume.
  4. Select a pair of ear tips that best fit your ears and adjust the position of the earphones to ensure a snug, comfortable fit.
  5. If the sound openings on the earphones are blocked by dirt or debris, the volume will be affected. Clean your earphones regularly.
  6. Phone/Tablet: Update your phone/tablet's system to the latest version. Swipe down from the upper left corner of the screen to display the notification bar, find the Bluetooth call audio channel notification, and touch Release now. Alternatively, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to display the Recent tasks screen, close all background apps, and try playing music again.
  7. PC: Close all call apps that are currently running, and try playing music again.

If the volume from one earphone is lower than the other after the earphones are connected to a phone/PC to play music, troubleshoot as follows:

  1. Ensure that the earphones' firmware is up to date.
  2. Ensure that the battery levels of both earphones are higher than 20%. If the earphones can't be charged, refer to My earphones or the charging case cannot be charged or charge slowly.
  3. Select a pair of ear tips that best fit your ears and adjust the position of the earphones to ensure a snug, comfortable fit.
  4. If the sound openings on the earphones are blocked by dirt or debris, the volume will be affected. Clean your earphones regularly.
  1. Try changing the music or music player and check whether this resolves the issue.
  2. If the issue persists, reset the earphones and pair them with your phone/tablet again.

If the issue persists, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
