If you cannot find the photo you've just taken in Gallery, perform the following steps.
1. Check whether you exited Camera immediately after taking a photo
For great looking photos, Camera will process photos using complex software algorithms in the background, including optimising the colour and brightness of the photo, and this may take a while. If you close Camera immediately after taking a photo, the photo may not be generated. It is recommended that you wait until the photo is fully processed before closing Camera. We are continuously looking at ways to improve and speed up this process and we thank you for your patience.
2. Check whether the memory card is damaged
If a memory card has been inserted into your device, remove the memory card and take a photo to check if the issue persists. If you can then see the photo in Gallery, it indicates that the memory card is damaged. In this case, replace the memory card.
3. Check the photo taking time
When you touch a thumbnail to view a photo, the most recent photo is displayed first. If you've changed the system time to an earlier one, the time of the photos you took before may be later than the photo you've just taken. It is recommended that you set the system date and time to the correct time to ensure that photos can be displayed properly.
To do so, touch Settings, search for and access Date & time, and enable Set automatically.
4. Clear Gallery data
Touch Settings, search for and access Apps, touch the four-dot (three-dot) icon in the upper right corner, touch Show system processes, and find Gallery and Media Storage in the app list. Go to and , respectively. Then, wait for a while and go to Gallery again to view the photo.
- Clearing Gallery data will not delete photos from Gallery, but will cause My favourites, Highlights, and Discover albums to disappear. Highlights and Discover albums will be automatically generated after the device screen is turned off and charged for a period of time. My favourites albums will appear again after you add any photos to favourites. Customised categories of hidden albums in Gallery will be lost, and will then be moved to the restored albums.
- Clearing Media Storage data will reset your media settings, including the ringtone and notification tone settings.
5. Restart your device
If the issue persists, restart your device and try again.
