How can I disable Retain key settings when restore my router to its factory settings |
If the Retain network settings after factory reset option is enabled on your router (enabled by default), the following information will be retained after a factory reset:
- Wi-Fi name and password.
- PPPoE account and password.
- If a static IP is set up, the IP address and DNS server address will be retained.
- If your router has cloned an associated WAN MAC Address to access the Internet, the MAC information will be retained.
If your router is restored while the Retain network settings after factory reset option is enabled, key information such as Wi-Fi name and password will be retained. Nevertheless, after your router is restored, you would still need to complete the configuration process before you can access the Internet.
If your router is used by someone else, it is recommended that you disable the Retain network settings after factory reset option when restoring the router to its factory settings to protect your private information.
- Method 1: Open the AI Life App, touch the corresponding router to access the router management screen, then go to Show more > HarmonyOS Connect (or go to Network > HarmonyOS Connect directly). Touch the arrow
next to the router name to display the Device information screen, then go to Factory reset. Disable the Retain network settings after factory reset button.
- Method 2: Log in to your router's web-based management page. Go to More Functions > System Settings > Back up & Restore and disable Retain key settings.
