WhatsApp cannot automatically generate Gallery albums

Problem:

Images or multi-media messages have been received in WhatsApp, but no WhatsApp album is generated in Gallery.

Generally, WhatsApp automatically generates a dedicated album in Gallery to save images received in WhatsApp.

Solution:

1. Grant the Storage permission for WhatsApp.

Go to Settings > Apps > Apps > WhatsApp > Permissions > Storage > Allow.

2. Check whether the WhatsApp album is hidden.

Open Gallery, touch the More icon in the upper right corner, touch Hidden items, and check whether there is a hidden WhatsApp album. If so, touch Unhide.

3. Enable the media file visibility of WhatsApp.

Open WhatsApp, touch the More menu in the upper right corner, go to Settings > Chats, and then enable Media visibility.

If WhatsApp cannot generate an album after the preceding operations have been performed, delete the .nomedia file from the WhatsApp folder in Files.

1. Go to Files > Me > Settings, enable Show hidden files and Show hidden files. (The two options can be disabled after the operation has been completed.)

2. Return to the Files home screen, go to Browse > Phone > WhatsApp > Media > WhatsApp Images, search for the .nomedia file, and delete it. Restart the phone and check the WhatsApp album in Gallery again.

Files with the .nomedia extension are hidden files. The extension indicates that the folder does not have multimedia data so that files in that particular folder will be skipped by multimedia apps such as Gallery when scanning or indexing files. All multimedia files in that folder are hidden in this sense.
