Strap issues of HUAWEI watches/bands, such as abrasion, scratches, odors, and color changes
Strap issues of HUAWEI watches/bands, such as abrasion, scratches, odors, and color changes |
Abrasion or pilling on soft rubber, leather, or woven straps
Straps are consumable items that may experience slight wear-and-tear during daily use, due to contact with objects like desktops, walls, and clothing. Please handle the strap with care and follow maintenance guidelines. You can also consider purchasing new straps as replacements.
Leather straps are not water-resistant and should not be worn during activities involving water exposure, such as showers or swimming. If water stains appear on the strap surfaces, gently wipe them dry with a clean, soft lint-free cloth. To ensure durability, handle the strap with care during daily use, by keeping it away from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, high temperatures, and contact with rough or sharp objects.
Odors from soft rubber or woven straps
A slight odor may occur when a wearable device has been stored in an enclosed space for an extended period or is unboxed as a new product, or after exercise due to sweat accumulation.
- Soft rubber straps may emit very faint odors that are non-toxic and have passed applicable environmental protection and smell tests.
- It is normal to notice a slight odor from close distances when a wearable device has been stored in an enclosed space for an extended period or is unboxed as a new product. This does not indicate any issue with the strap. Simply place it in a well-ventilated area and the odor will dissipate naturally.
- Remember to keep the strap clean and dry during daily use. After prolonged wearing or exercise, you're advised to take off the device, unclasp the strap, and rinse it with fresh room-temperature water. Don't forget to clean your wrist as well.
- Woven straps feature antibacterial properties and can effectively reduce odors, as verified by antimicrobial fabric tests. However, these straps tend to absorb sweat, which can lead to bacterial buildup and odor over time. To maintain a woven strap, you're advised to clean it regularly with fresh room-temperature water and mild detergent or soap, and dry the strap thoroughly by placing it on a flat surface or hanging it, before wearing it again.
Scratches on soft rubber straps
The strap surfaces feature finely processed textures for an elegant look and feel. These textures may become damaged by external forces, appearing as scratches under light. Scratches do not affect the normal use or functionality of the product. To ensure durability, handle the strap with care during daily use, by keeping it away from contact with sharp objects.
Color changes, odors, or cracks on leather straps
Leather straps are crafted from natural leather, rich in collagen fibers, for a skin-friendly wearing experience.
However, natural leather is not resistant to water or sweat. Prolonged exposure to moisture may lead to color changes, irreparable marks or cracks, surface hardening, or odors, due to the accelerated aging of collagen fibers. Extended sunlight exposure may also cause discoloration. These are normal occurrences and do not affect the normal use or functionality of the product.
To maintain the quality of leather straps, handle them with care during daily use.
- For intense exercise, opt for straps made from other materials, such as soft rubber.
- Avoid wearing leather straps during water-related activities such as swimming or showering.
- Keep leather straps away from prolonged exposure to sunlight or high temperatures.
Deformed or wrinkled leather straps/composite vegan leather straps
When worn, a strap forms an elliptical shape to wrap around the wrist, creating uneven pressure along the strap, most notably around the buckle and pin area. As a result, it is normal for a leather strap/composite vegan leather strap to show signs of deformation after prolonged use. This is a normal occurrence and does not affect the normal use or functionality of the product. To prevent damage, make sure not to fold the strap backward or in the opposite direction when installing/removing the strap and during daily use.
Velcro fastening zones of woven straps become less secure after prolonged use
It is normal for the Velcro fastening zone of a woven strap to lose some of its grip over time with extended use. To prolong its lifespan, minimize the frequency of clasping and unclasping the strap whenever possible. You can consider purchasing new straps as replacements.
Stains on woven straps
This kind of strap is made of nylon (polyamide fiber). Its internal micropore structure is prone to dust and dirt and is difficult to clean thoroughly. If not cleaned for a long time, stains will infiltrate the deep layer of the fiber and form stubborn dirt.
It is recommended that you clean the watch strap periodically.
- It is recommended that you clean it on a weekly basis or once every two weeks.
- It is recommended that, after intense exercise, you gently rub and clean the strap with mild neutral detergent, rinse it clean with running water, and place it flat or hang it to dry.
- Do not have woven straps cleaned or dried in a washing machine or dryer.
Quick release button on metal straps feels stuck when pressed
If pressing the Quick release button feels difficult, external objects may have intruded into the mechanism. Try pressing the button repeatedly to dislodge such objects. If dislodging fails, immerse the button area in warm water and press it repeatedly until the mechanism returns to normal.
If the issue persists or you aren't satisfied with the preceding solution, please take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for inspection and assistance.
