HUAWEI phones/tablets charge slowly
The wired charging speed of a HUAWEI phone or tablet is usually slow due to accessory faults, the temperature protection mechanism, or system settings. Perform the following to troubleshoot:
Check the charging accessories and port
- Accessory faults: Check whether the data cable is aged or the charger is damaged. You are advised to use an official HUAWEI charger.
- Cleaning the port: Dust or dirt in the charging port can affect the contact efficiency. Try cleaning the port.
- Protocol compatibility: Using a non-standard charger for a long time may cause charging protocol incompatibility, which can affect the charging speed and even damage the charging module.
Check the device temperature
- High-temperature protection: When the device temperature is too high, the system automatically reduces the charging speed to ensure safety.
- Low-temperature impact: In a low-temperature environment, the battery impedance increases and the charge current decreases, prolonging the charging time.
Check the Charging temperature limit settings
If Charging temperature limit is enabled on the device, the charging speed will be affected. Disable this feature by accessing the Developer options based on the version:
HarmonyOS 5 and later:
- Access Developer options: Open Settings, search for "About", tap About phone/About tablet/About, and quickly tap Build number seven times in a row. When a dialog box is displayed, tap to restart the device and enable Developer options.
- Disable the limit: Go to Settings > System > Developer options and turn off the Charging temperature limit switch.
- (Optional) Exit Developer options: Open Settings, search for "Developer options", turn off the switch, and restart your device.
HarmonyOS 4 and earlier:
- Access Developer options: Go to Settings, search for "About", tap About phone/About tablet/About, and quickly tap the HarmonyOS version number seven times in a row until a message is displayed indicating that you are in the developer mode.
- Disable Charging temperature limit: Go to Settings > System & updates > Developer options and turn off the Charging temperature limit switch.
- (Optional) Exit Developer options: Open Settings, search for "Developer options", and turn off the switch.
