Fixing red dot issues

Problem:

Taking photos of highly reflective objects, such as glass, mirrors, and marble surfaces, or close-ups produces red dots on the photos.

Cause:

Your phone features a laser autofocus device in order to improve the focus speed.

The laser autofocus device, located beside the camera lens, works by emitting infrared beams at a subject, and calculating the distance based on the time it takes for the light to travel to the subject and back. If the infrared beams are reflected by a highly reflective object and captured by the camera lens, red dots will appear on the photos.

When taking a close-up photo in low light, infrared beams emitted by the laser autofocus device may cause a brightness change and a long exposure, resulting in the red dots.

Solution:

  1. Use Photo mode, where laser autofocus is disabled, for taking photos.
  2. Try to keep highly reflective objects out of the viewfinder.
  3. When taking a photo of a highly reflective object, tilt the camera until no red dots show up in the viewfinder.

If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
