Uninstalling a driver may cause the failure of certain functions on your computer.
- After the network adapter driver is uninstalled, the computer will not be able to connect to a network.
- It is recommended that you do not uninstall any pre-installed drivers or software, such as the Bluetooth driver and Huawei PC Manager, otherwise you will not be able to access the computer features properly.
- Click the search icon on the taskbar, enter "Device Manager" in the search box, and open Device Manager.
- You can now view all drivers that have been installed on your computer. Click > on the left to expand the list of drivers, right-click the driver that you want to uninstall, and select Uninstall device.
- A warning dialog box is displayed. If you still want to uninstall the driver, select Delete the driver software for this device. and click Uninstall.
When you uninstall certain drivers, such as the network driver, if a message appears with an option asking you to delete the driver software for the device, select the option and click Uninstall to completely uninstall the driver.
- After the driver is uninstalled, it will not be displayed in Device Manager.
- If you uninstall a built-in driver, the driver will be automatically installed after the computer restarts.
- After you uninstall a non-built-in driver (third-party driver), you can reinstall the driver after restarting your computer and ensuring that it stays connected to the Internet.
Distinguishing between built-in drivers and non-built-in drivers
If the driver provider is Microsoft, the driver is a built-in driver. Otherwise, the driver is not a built-in driver. To view the driver provider, perform the following steps:
- Click the search icon on the taskbar, enter "Device Manager" in the search box, and open Device Manager.
- Right-click the desired driver and select Properties from the shortcut menu.
- Select the Driver tab. You will then be able to see the driver provider.
- Common built-in drivers: USB keyboard, PS/2 keyboard, USB input device (such as a USB mouse), USB root hub, touchpad, touchscreen, mainboard, chip, etc.
- Common non-built-in drivers: Intel (R) UHD Graphics 630, Array Networks VPN Adapter, audio adapter, and fingerprint driver.
