Why are my apps automatically updated when the Auto-update apps function in HUAWEI AppGallery is disabled?

When you open HUAWEI AppGallery for the first time, a prompt will be displayed asking if you want to enable the Auto-update apps function in HUAWEI AppGallery. If you have chosen to disable this function but your apps are still automatically updated, it may be caused by the following reasons.

Cause:

  1. You may have restored your phone to its factory settings or cleared the data or cache of HUAWEI AppGallery. After doing so, Auto-update apps will be automatically enabled when you open HUAWEI AppGallery again.
  2. You may have enabled Auto-update apps in the pop-up window by mistake. With Auto-update apps disabled, a pop-up window will be displayed asking if you want to enable the function when you download, open, or manually update an app and a message is displayed indicating that there is an update available in HUAWEI AppGallery.

Solution:

  1. Go to AppGallery > Me > Settings > Auto-update apps and check whether Off is selected.
  2. Pay attention to the pop-up notifications that appear when you open HUAWEI AppGallery for the first time, manage updates, or perform manual updates. Do not select the option to enable auto-updates for apps.
  3. If you have installed other app stores, such as Google Play, check whether you have enabled these app stores to automatically update apps.
