Configuring a HUAWEI computer running Windows 11 when it is powered on for the first time

The user interface and your operations may vary depending on the Windows 11 version pre-installed on your computer and configurations (such as the fingerprint sensor function) of your computer.

Detailed operations (Click the following link to go to the corresponding operation):

Preparations

Before you configure Windows 11, make the following preparations:

  • Available network: During system configuration, updates need to be automatically downloaded in a good network environment. Please wait with patience and avoid disconnecting from the network during the configuration to avoid any problem.
  • Microsoft account: You need to use a Microsoft account to log in to the computer when the computer is powered on for the first time. It is recommended that you prepare or register a Microsoft account in advance. (Note that parental consent is required when you log in to your computer if the date of birth on your Microsoft account shows that you're under 14.)

Power-on

If your computer is a laptop, connect it to a power supply and press the Power button to power it on.

If your computer is a desktop, see Connecting my computer to a keyboard, mouse, monitor, and power supply and powering on my computer.

Startup configuration

  1. After startup, the basic settings screen is displayed. You can select the appropriate settings for the region and keyboard layout.

  2. Enter the network connection screen, select an available network to obtain the latest features and security updates, and click Next. The computer will then start to download the updates.

If you cannot connect your device to a Wi-Fi hotspot when powering it on for the first time, press and hold the Power button for 10 to 15 seconds to power off your device, then power it on again, and follow the onscreen instructions to connect it to a Wi-Fi hotspot.

  3. On the screen where the license agreement can be viewed, read the agreement carefully and click Accept.

The update of the Microsoft license agreement is authorized by Microsoft, and the last update date displayed on the page depends on the last update date of the Microsoft license agreement.

  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to enter your Microsoft account and password, and click Next.

  5. If your computer network is poor, the login page of the local account will display. Follow the onscreen instructions to name the computer, reconnect to the network, enter the account name and password, and set the security question. (Make sure you remember the security question and answer.)

  6. After you log in to your account, the Windows Hello settings screen will be displayed. Follow the onscreen instructions to set fingerprint or facial authentification.

  7. Set a PIN. The PIN only includes numbers by default. If you want to include letters and symbols for your PIN, select the Include letters and symbols option.

  8. Modify settings based on your preferences and click Accept on the Let Microsoft and apps use your location screen. Wait for a moment. You will then be able to enter the system and operate your computer.
