The computer on which the shared folder is created and the computer on which you want to view the folder must be connected to the same local area network (LAN). The computers must access the same network with wired or wireless connections.
To create a folder for sharing, perform the following:
- Right-click the Windows icon and select File Explorer.
- Right-click Network and go to . Select Turn on network discovery under Network discovery in the displayed Advanced sharing settings window. Click to expand All Networks, select Turn off password protected sharing under Password protected sharing, and click Save changes.
- Right-click the folder that you want to share and select Show more options. Go to and select Everyone in the window displaying Choose people to share with. Go to Add > Share.
If you want to enable the write permission, select Everyone and choose Read/Write in the Permission Level options.
To access the shared folder, perform the following:
Method 1:
Press Win+R to open the Run window. Enter the IP address of the computer on which the original shared folder is located (for example, \\192.168.8.118) and click OK.
Method 2:
- Ensure that the computers are connected to the same network. Right-click the Windows icon and select File Explorer.
- Click Network and check the name of the computer with the original shared folder. You will see the folder after clicking the computer name.
To remove access to the shared folder, perform the following:
