If no prompt displays when the HUAWEI earphones are close to a HUAWEI phone/tablet/PC, or if the prompt flashes or displays an incorrect shape or colour for the earphones, or fails to download the animation or does not display any animation at all, perform the following steps.
For HUAWEI PCs:
- Proximity pairing prompts are only supported on certain PC models. Make sure that your PC is included in the list of supported devices.
- If you are trying to connect a pair of FreeBuds SE 2/FreeBuds Pro 2 +/FreeBuds Pro 2/FreeBuds 5/FreeBuds 5i earphones to your HUAWEI PC, update PC Manager to version 13.0.3.380 or later. FreeBuds 3i and FreeLace Pro do not support proximity pairing prompts on PCs.
For HUAWEI phones/tablets:
-
Connect the device to a Wi-Fi network and enable Bluetooth in Settings.
-

- Open AppGallery and go to Me > Updates. Find AudioAccessoryManager and update it to 13.0.0.130 or later.
The bubble effect in HUAWEI FreeBuds 5's proximity pairing prompt requires AudioAccessoryManager 13.0.0.140 or later.
- Go to Settings, search for AudioAccessoryManager, and go to Storage > CLEAR DATA.
- Open AppGallery and go to Me > Updates. Find AudioAccessoryManager and update it to 13.0.0.130 or later.

- For EMUI 11.0/HarmonyOS 2.0 or later:
-
Restart your phone/tablet. The configuration files will be automatically downloaded from the server.
- Restore the earphones to their factory settings and enter Pairing mode.
- Place the earphones within 20 cm of your phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the pairing. Proximity pairing prompts and animations are only supported on certain devices. For details, please refer to Proximity pairing on HUAWEI FreeBuds/FreeLace series or WATCH Buds earphones.
Certain phones/tablets (such as HUAWEI nova 4e) may not show the proximity pairing prompts in certain apps, such as Camera, gaming apps, and Settings. This does not affect the Bluetooth connection or your ability to use the earphones.

- HONOR phones do not display a proximity pairing prompt when connected to HUAWEI earphones launched in 2021 or later, for example, FreeBuds 4i and FreeBuds Pro 2. This is because HUAWEI earphones' prompts require independent configurations for the phone/tablet system, while such configurations are not available on devices independently launched by HONOR.
