The rear camera lens of my HUAWEI phone/tablet is cracked, scratched, or worn out

Problem:

The rear camera lens is cracked, scratched, or worn out, affecting camera performance.

Cause:

The glass lens of the camera is often higher than the phone/tablet's rear cover, which increases the risk of the lens being broken and scratched. Huawei has been working to improve the strength of phone/tablet screens and provide more comprehensive methods for protecting them.

  • About the material of the camera lens

The camera lens is made of high-strength aluminum-silicon glass, which is an alkali-free glass with excellent pressure and scratch resistance. To a certain extent, it can reduce the risk of scratching, crushing and wearing of the lens. This type of glass is most commonly used in the industry.

  • What tests have been performed on the camera lens?

To verify the reliability of the camera lenses, we did intensive extrusion, drop and roller testing to ensure that the design meets the quality requirements.

Before product shipment, we draw out a certain percentage of the mass-produced phones to do drop or roller tests, to ensure that each batch meets the shipping standards, including the camera lens standards.

Solution:

If the issue has affected your use of the phone/tablet, call the Huawei consumer service hotline, or back up your data in advance and take your device and proof of purchase to a nearby Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance. Broken, scratched or worn out camera lenses due to mishandling or accident are not covered by warranty. Specific repair method and cost are subjected to the Huawei Customer Service Center.

Suggestions:
  • Use a phone/tablet protective case that wraps around the edge of the camera lens.
  • Avoid putting your phone/tablet together with sharp objects (such as keys and gravel).
