| Update failure on my HUAWEI phone/tablet |
If your device cannot receive the system update installation package, refer to Unable to receive system update notifications on my HUAWEI phone/tablet.
Update prerequisites:
- Remove the SD card (to avoid interference).
- Make sure that the battery level of the device is greater than 20%.
- The device has sufficient storage space.
If the update still fails after the preceding conditions are met, refer to the following scenarios:
Scenario 1: Failed to download the update package or parse the installation package
Problem:
- During the download of the update package, the progress bar is stuck for a long time.
- When downloading the update package, messages such as "Download failed", "Installation package verification failed", "Server unavailable, please try again later", and "Installation package parsing failed" display.
- During the update, messages such as "Download failed", Authentication failed, "Failed to verify the update package", and "Download failed. Please check for updates again." display.
Cause:
- The current network is unstable or restricted.
- The storage space is insufficient.
Operation:
- Ensure that the network status is good.
Reconnect to a Wi-Fi network with a better status and try again.
- Delete the data and download the update package again.
- Open Settings, search for and access Apps, find System update or Software update, and go to .
- Restart the device and download the latest installation package.
- Clear the storage space and download the update package again.
Refer to My HUAWEI phone/tablet displays a message indicating that the storage space is insufficient.
- Restore the device to its factory settings and try again.
If the download still fails, back up your data, restore the device to its factory settings, and try again. Do not restore all settings or enter the repair mode, as this may cause issues such as the device failing to power on or data loss.
Scenario 2: The update screen or startup screen is stuck during the update.
Problem:
- During updates, the system is stuck on the update screen or cannot be accessed from the startup screen.
- After the update is complete, the system is stuck on the logo screen during the restart and cannot be accessed.
- Update fails, and red text displays on the startup screen, rather than entering the system.
- During updates, the device automatically restarts and then enters the update screen. The message "Software install failed" displays along with a red exclamation mark, and the system cannot be accessed.
Operation:
- Charge it for at least 30 minutes, and then check to see if you can power it on.
- If the device still cannot be powered on, press and hold the Power button and Volume down button, or press and hold the Power button for more than 10 seconds (depending on the device model) to forcibly restart the device.
- If the issue persists, try restoring the system (see the following).
System restoration procedure
Recovering the system may erase your personal data. If your device can be powered on, remember to back up your data immediately.
Method 1: Restore the system using the system restoration feature.
- Enter eRecovery or eUpdate mode.
