If your computer came with a pre-installed Windows Home edition, make sure that your computer has Internet access for Windows to be automatically activated.

Manual activation for non-new computers

  • When activating Windows Home edition for the first time, make sure that your computer has Internet access.
  • Some models do not support activation through Huawei PC Manager; in such cases, you can activate using a product key.
  • Method 1: Using Huawei PC Manager for activation

Update Huawei PC Manager to 13.0.2.370 or later to support this feature.

    1. Open Huawei PC Manager, click Troubleshooting on the toolbar in the left pane, and click Activation under common tools.

    2. Huawei PC Manager will check the activation status of the Windows system.

    3. After the check is complete, follow the on-screen prompts to complete system activation.
  • Method 2: Using product key for activation

A product key is a 25-character code used to activate Windows. To activate the corresponding Windows version, enter the product key in the system settings. If you're upgrading to an official Microsoft Windows system, you can also use this method to activate the relevant system as follows:

    1. Connect your computer to the Internet. Right-click the Windows icon on the desktop and select Administrator (or Windows PowerShell (Admin)) from the shortcut menu.

    2. Enter wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey and press Enter. The product key will be displayed in the format of "XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX". Note that the input content is case insensitive, but you need to pay attention to digits and spaces. It is recommended that you copy and paste it into the window.

      • If a computer cannot boot into the system, it is impossible to view the product key.
      • If the query result is empty after pressing the Enter key, it indicates that the computer does not have a product key.
    3. Press Win () + I to open the Settings window, and then go to System > Activation. (For Windows 10, go to Update & Security > Activation instead.)

Click here to access the activation screen.

    4. In the Activation status dropdown menu, click Change after Change product key. (For Windows 10, click Change product key directly.)

    5. Enter the product key you have obtained into the input box. Click Next and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the activation process.
