Enabling and disabling Windows auto-updates
  1. Click on the taskbar, enter "services", and open Services.

  2. Double-click Windows Update in the Services window that is displayed.

  3. Set Startup type to Disabled. This method can help temporarily disable Windows auto-updates. If you are prompted with the window again, perform the steps above again.

    To enable Windows auto-updates, set Startup type to Automatic or Automatic (Delayed Start).

  4. Click Recovery, set First failure to Take No Action, and click OK. The next time you start the computer, auto-updates will not be enabled.

    To enable auto-updates, set First failure to Restart the Service.
