Problem
Users connect the computer to a monitor with an HDMI cable and frequently press Win+P or F8 to switch between different projection modes. When users change the projection mode from Duplicate to Second screen only, there is a low possibility that nothing is displayed on the computer screen and the display on the connected monitor is normal or nothing is displayed on the connected monitor as well.
Cause
When HDMI is used for projection and the projection mode is switched, it takes approximately 10s for the Microsoft display module (dxgkrml) to complete the switching process. If the switching interval is short, there is a low possibility that the display module encounters display exceptions due to a processing timeout.
Solution
- Do not switch the projection mode again until the previous switching is complete. The interval between two switching operations must be at least 10s.
- If an exception occurs, press the Power button to restart the computer.
