Bright spots, light specks, flares, or long horizontal lines in photos |
Problem:
Bright spots, light specks, flares, or long horizontal lines in photos of all cameras:
Cause:
- The camera lens is smudged.
- The photo or video was taken in Night shot mode while the phone was moving.
- The photo or video was shot in strong lighting, causing white or blue bright spots to appear.
- If you are using a Mate 20 series phone, bright spots may appear more often in night shots than with other products.
- Your phone is able to automatically adjust the ISO value based on the ambient light. If the ambient brightness is low or the environment is completely dark, the ISO value automatically increases, producing hot pixels in the image and showing bright spots on the preview screen. This is the current mechanism adopted by all smartphones on the market to improve the quality of photos taken in low lighting.
Solution:
- Wipe the camera lens and shoot the photo or video again.
- If your device supports Night shot mode, it is strongly recommended that you use a tripod in this mode to prevent blurred images and long horizontal lines.
- Do not shoot photos or videos in strong lighting. Otherwise, white or blue bright spots may appear, and the positions of such spots move with the camera and light. This is a normal phenomenon caused by the reflection on the internal and external surfaces of the camera lens glass.
- The rear camera of Mate 20 series phones features outstanding light sensing capabilities due to its optimized camera lens optical coatings.
However, at the same time, the light spots that appear when light reflects from the camera lens may be highlighted, especially when taking photos in a dark environment.
- In this case, you can reduce the ISO value to resolve this issue. To adjust the ISO:
EMUI 5.X: Go to
.EMUI 8.X: Go to
.EMUI 9.X: Go to
(Go to ). - If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
