My HUAWEI laptop heats up and its fan generates a loud sound after the device enters Sleep mode or the lid is closed

Problem

  • The laptop heats up and its fan generates a loud sound once the device enters Sleep mode or the lid is closed.
  • After closing the laptop's lid, the user puts it into a backpack and takes it out after a certain period of time, and then finds that the laptop is overheated.

Cause

  • After the laptop enters Sleep mode or its lid is closed, it is woken up by third-party software or external devices (such as a Bluetooth device or mouse). In this case, the laptop is still working, causing the heat issues and leading the fan to generate a large sound.
  • After the laptop is put into a backpack with its lid closed and enters Sleep/Hibernate mode, it wakes up due to magnetic objects. In this case, the laptop is still working and generating heat, but the heat cannot be dissipated. As a result, the laptop heats up seriously.

Solution

HUAWEI laptops have passed strict temperature tests before delivery and will not have security risks. In addition, the computer has a high-temperature protection mechanism. In extreme cases, the computer will automatically power off for self-protection.

  1. When you are not using the laptop, disconnect it from external devices and power it off, to prevent background apps from running.
  2. If a laptop that supports the LID Power On feature enters Sleep/Hibernate mode, it may wake up due to magnetic objects. In this case, it is recommended that you place your laptop far away from magnetic objects, or disable the LID Power On feature.
  3. If the issue persists, back up your data, record your Office account that has been activated, and use F10 to restore your device to its factory settings. If the issue remains unresolved, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance. (Tip: Feel free to call the Huawei consumer service hotline for assistance before going to a Huawei Customer Service Center.) We will do our best to address your needs.
