HUAWEI MatePad Paper drains its battery quickly, and has a short standby time

Problem

HUAWEI MatePad Paper drains its battery quickly, and has a short standby time.

Cause

  • The new device has not performed charging self-learning.
  • When you use the stylus to write, use video apps to watch videos, or view dynamic images, the screen may refresh frequently, resulting in high power consumption.
  • The side button on the tablet is pressed by mistake (for example, the Power button is pressed by a gift box or a protective case), causing the tablet to fail to enter standby mode.
  • The magnetic component of the non-Huawei folio cover conflicts with the magnetic component used for charging the stylus, causing the screen to frequently turn on, which increases power consumption.

Solution

  1. Perform charging self-learning on the new device.

Use your tablet until the battery level is below 20%, then charge your tablet after it has been in standby mode for 10 minutes. Once the battery is fully charged, continue charging it for another hour.

  2. Avoid frequent screen refresh, which will result in high power consumption.
    1. Avoid using third-party apps from unofficial channels. Some third-party apps may not be compatible with HUAWEI MatePad Paper, which may cause the screen to refresh frequently, resulting in high power consumption. It is recommended that you use the pre-installed apps or third-party apps downloaded from AppGallery.
    2. You can read using your HUAWEI MatePad Paper without turning the backlight on. Only use the backlight when there is inadequate external light. Reduce the backlight brightness, or turn off the backlight to reduce power consumption. Swipe down from the top of the screen, tap Light mode, and select Off or Custom.
  3. Check buttons.

Check whether the side button of the device is pressed or the screen is being accidentally turned on by foreign objects, which makes the device unable to enter standby mode and continuously consume power.

  4. It is recommended that you use an official folio cover or an officially-certified third-party folio cover instead.
  5. Update the system version and app versions.

Update your tablet system and apps to their latest versions to optimize their functionality, performance, and power consumption.
