My HUAWEI phone/tablet has weak Wi-Fi signals, stuttering issues, and slow network speeds

Weak Wi-Fi signal

  • If you are using a metal case, magnetic case, or magnetic device holder (such as a magnetic support or cup), remove the case or holder and try again. Metal and magnetic materials can interfere with and affect the signal.
  • If there are obstructions between your device and the router, the signal may be affected. In this case, move to an area with a strong signal.
  • Restart your router and check whether the issue is resolved.
  • Search for Reset network settings on the Settings screen, and follow the onscreen instructions. (Note: This operation will restore the settings of the Wi-Fi, mobile data, and NearLink/Bluetooth connections, but will not delete other data or modify other settings. You will be asked to enter your lock screen password for verification.)

If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.

Slow Wi-Fi speed or stuttering issue

  • Check whether Bluetooth is enabled on your phone/tablet. If so, disable Bluetooth and check whether the network is normal. Alternatively, if your phone and router support 5G Wi-Fi, connect to a 5G Wi-Fi network (usually named as XXX-5G) and check whether the network speed is normal.

    • Check whether your device supports 5G Wi-Fi:
    • HUAWEI phone/tablet: You can check the supported Wi-Fi frequency bands from the product specs screen in VMALL. If you can't find related information, contact the customer service for assistance.
    • Non-HUAWEI phone/tablet: You can contact the customer service for your device to check its supported Wi-Fi frequency bands.
  • You are advised to go to the router configuration screen.
    1. Modify the router channel configuration.
    2. Check whether a speed limit is set. If so, disable the speed limit on the router.
    3. Check whether IPv6 is enabled for the router. If so, disable IPv6 and try again. Actual features vary depending on the router model. You are advised to contact the router manufacturer.
  • Set a static IP address for Wi-Fi connection by referring to How to set a static IP address for a Wi-Fi connection.
  • If the key icon is displayed in the status bar, you may be using a VPN. An unstable VPN may cause Internet access issues. In this case, disconnect VPN or close the VPN software.
  • Restart the router or update it to the latest version, and check whether the network recovers. If the issue persists, contact your broadband service provider.

If the issue remains unresolved, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
