As a professional high diver, my daily routine is built around precision, discipline and body awareness.
Every time I’m in the pool, every dive, and every moment I recove, it all counts. When I’m jumping from
a height far above 20 meters, I must remain completely focused while standing on the platform, gazing
down at the world below. There’s no room for any hesitation.
Over the years I have tried many smartwatches, looking for something that can really keep up with the
intensity of my training. At the beginning of this year I received the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Pro to test it
during my preparations and competitions it is the first one that felt like a natural part of my routine.
It is compact, lightweight and surprisingly powerful, not only for professional athletes like me, but
also for anyone who wants to take their health and well-being more seriously.

Gear Check: Setting Up for Precision
Before each training session, I treat my smartwatch like any other piece of essential equipment: it has to be reliable, comfortable, and precise. During my jumps I need absolute focus, any scratching or pressure on my wrist could throw me off rhythm. Every jump is a perfected routine that can be easily disrupted.
My pre workout setup routine:
1. Check Heart Rate
2. Check SpO2
3. Check Stress Level
4. Check Skin Temperature
5. If needed: Breathing Exercise
For exactly this reason, what I appreciate most is its lightweight design, which makes it easy to
wear 24/7, during gym sessions, swimming, diving, and even while I sleep. The strap stays secure
even in wet environments, and the material feels so comfortable that I barely notice it on my wrist.
This is not just for athletes, anyone can benefit from starting a workout with a clearer sense of
their physical readiness. The watch makes this incredibly easy, especially through the HUAWEI Health
App, where you can compare these values over time with no effort.
Training for Control: Building Power and Balance on Land
Although diving takes place in water and air, most of the actual training happens on land,
especially during the winter. Strength training, core stability, balance drills, and breath control
form the base for every successful dive. These foundations matter for anyone who wants to build a
strong, functional body.
One feature I love is the vibration every 10 minutes during my session, which helps me stay aware of
time during long strength sets or circuits without looking at the screen. It keeps my rhythm
consistent and lets me stay in the flow. What really surprised me though is how complete the health
tracking is. During interval training my heart rate graph shows every spike and drop, so I can see
exactly how my body reacts to different exercises in real time.
The key data points I rely on during my gym workouts:
1. Heart rate
2. Heart rate zones
3. Warm-up vs peak intensity
4. Active training minutes
5. Recovery suggestions

Tracking my body’s reactions
During a long travel day to the world diving competition followed by a sauna session I experimented
a bit more with the arterial stiffness feature, activated on the HUAWEI Health
App. I measured
twice. Right after the sauna my PWV was 6.7 m per second with a heart rate of 82 bpm. Later that
evening, once I had cooled down and relaxed, my PWV reading dropped to 6.4 m per second and my heart
rate was down to 55 bpm again. For me as an athlete this is fascinating to watch. It makes me wonder
is there a direct link between higher heart rate, heat stress and temporarily increased arterial
stiffness, or was this just a coincidence on that particular day. I am not a doctor, so I can only
speculate, but having these numbers on my wrist gives me a much better feeling for how travel,
recovery routines and even sauna sessions might influence my cardiovascular system over time.
In the water, the watch performed impressively. During pool training, I used both diving and
freediving modes, and the watch automatically and accurately detected depth, dive time, and
underwater duration. This precision is rare in such a lightweight watch.
“One of the biggest advantages of the FIT 4 Pro is the battery life. Even with full usage, sleep tracking, workouts, diving, and monitoring, the watch easily lasts for a week.”
Recovery and Reflection: The Art of Resetting and Learning from Every Session
Between sessions I use the recovery heart and ECG features to get a quick picture of my
cardiovascular health. Knowing that my pulse wave velocity is in a normal range and that my
recovery is rated at 100 percent gives me confidence to step back on the platforms the next day.
I can view a lot of information about my recovery under Training Status on my watch. Even
if I’m
still diving into the finer details of those metrics like and what they reveal about my
performance and long-term health, it’s reassuring to see the data confirm that everything is
clearly in the optimal range, it even gives me suggestions as to when I am ready to train again.
Even the recovery heart rate feature is useful. If my heart rate does not drop as fast as usual
after a hard set, I know I need a longer cooldown before I go back into the water. In this way
the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Pro guides my decisions around training, rest and
long term performance. Because I
know that recovery is where true improvement occurs.
A Small Feature That Won Me Over
One of the first things I appreciated is the watch’s automatic detections. Without setting anything manually, it even recognized a short 22-minutes daytime nap between two training sessions and logged it perfectly. For me, sleep is the foundation of everything I do, because if I am not rested, I lose timing in the air and precision on entry. The Wearables I used before don’t catch short naps at all.
“If you're an athlete or simply someone who wants to understand their wellbeing better, the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Pro is truly worth recommending.”
Conclusion
The Perfect Dive is Never an Accident
For me, a perfect dive never just happens. It is the result of thousands of tiny decisions I
make every day. Showing up to training, staying consistent, recovering properly, breathing with
intention, and listening closely to my body. These principles guide me far beyond the diving
board and shape the way I approach every training session and everyday life. Whether your goal
is to:
• Stay active through winter
• Improve your sleep
• Reduce stress
• Move more
• Build discipline
• Simply feel healthier
the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Pro is a powerful tool that makes your journey
easier. It does more than
just track numbers. It helps me build better habits, day by day.
This holiday season, it is also a very personal gift. I am giving a HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Pro to my father,
because I know it can support his well-being, keep him more active, and raise his awareness in
everyday life, just as it does for me.
