Chipped paint, scratches, or white marks

Cause:

  • Card tray: There may be minor scratches on the card tray if you frequently insert or remove it from your phone. We recommend that you do so only when necessary.
  • Metal or plastic rear cover (middle frame included): There may be minor scratches or peeling paint on your phone's rear cover or middle frame. These may be caused by frequent contact with hard surfaces such as tables or friction against items in your pocket or bag. Chipped paint, scratches, or white marks will be more visible on dark coloured phones owing to the contrast between the paint and the colour of the phone's metallic casing. You may also notice that scratches on phones with glossy finishes are also more visible.

It is recommended that you use a protective case for your phone to prevent such physical damage. Keep your phone away from sharp objects such as keys or uneven surfaces where possible to reduce wear and tear on your phone. Check for impurities inside the protective case and clean the case regularly.

  • Glass rear cover: There is an extra layer of protective paint on the glass rear cover edges to give the phone a sleek, stylish appearance. It is normal to see colour changes when viewing from certain angles. Huawei products have undergone strict appearance inspections before leaving the factory. Please do not be concerned.

The extra layer of protective paint may peel off if your phone is dropped to the ground or comes into contact with hard objects. Do not worry as these are normal physical changes and will not affect the functionality of your phone.

  • Headset jack: There may be minor scratches or white marks near your phone's headset jack after frequent use.
  • Charging port: There may be minor scratches or white marks near your phone's charging port after frequent use.

Solution:

  1. Use a protective case.
  2. If severe wear and tear is affecting your ability to use your phone normally, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
