The calculation made by HUAWEI Calculator is incorrect |
1. The calculation result is incorrect
Example: Multiplying 7,500,000 by 12 results in 9.E7 instead of 90,000,000.
This is normal due to the display length limit.
Examples:
- The calculation result is displayed in scientific notation when the integer is a multiple of 10 million.
- The calculation result is displayed in scientific notation when the integer part of the result consists of 16 or more digits (aEb=a*10^b; a times 10 to the power of b).
2. tan45 does not equal 1
To view sine, cosine, and tangent functions, open Calculator and switch to the scientific calculator. These functions are calculated in radians by default. Therefore, tan45 does not equal 1.
To switch the radian system to the angle system, touch Deg on the calculator.
3. The result of adding percentages is incorrect
The result when adding percentages is incorrect in Calculator. The following figure shows an example of this issue.
- EMUI 14.0 or later: Update the calculator to the latest version, in which the calculation rules are optimized. The calculation rules of the new version stipulate that the calculator recognizes A±B% as adding (or subtracting) B% of A to (or from) A, that is, A±A*B%. For example, 20 + 50% means adding 50% of 20 to 20, that is, 20+20*50%=30. A%±B% is recognized as adding (or subtracting) B% to (or from) A%. For example, 10% + 10% means adding 10% (or 0.1) to 10% (or 0.1), that is, 0.1+0.1=0.2.
Note: You can open Settings, search for and access Apps, and search for Calculator to view the app version. See the following table for the latest Calculator versions.
System
Product
Latest Calculator Version
EMUI 14.2
nova 12 series, nova 13 series, nova Flip, and Pura 70 series
14.2.0.340 or later
Others
14.0.0.165 or later
EMUI 14.0
Models not specified
14.0.0.165 or later
- If the calculator cannot be updated to the latest version or the system version is EMUI 14.0 or earlier: The old calculator rules will be used, which stipulate that the calculator recognizes A±B% as adding (or subtracting) B% of A to (or from) A, that is, A±A*B%. For example: ① 10% + 10% means adding 0.1 times 10% to 10% (or 0.1), that is, 0.1+0.1*10%=0.11. ② 20 + 50% means adding 50% of 20 to 20, that is, 20+20*50%=30.
The percentage calculation method is as follows:
- Convert the percentages to decimals. For example, 0.1 + 0.1.
- Touch
in the upper right corner of the calculator to switch to the scientific calculator and add parentheses to the percentage, for example, (10%) + (10%).
- Touch
in the upper right corner of the calculator to switch to the scientific calculator and add parentheses to the number before applying the percentage, for example, (10+10)%.
