NFC doesn't work when making payments |
Near Field Communication (NFC) is a short-distance wireless communications technology that allows mobile and other electronic devices to connect contactlessly. The NFC feature allows for mobile payments, identity authentication, transport card top-ups, balance queries for transport cards, data transmissions, and app sharing.
Prerequisites for using NFC functions
-
The device that your phone communicates with supports NFC (you can consult the device provider for this information).
-
Your phone supports NFC and it is enabled. To enable NFC on your phone, swipe down from the status bar to show the shortcuts panel, and enable NFC. (Your phone does not support NFC if there is no NFC shortcut icon.)
Check the default payment app in the NFC settings screen.
There are three types of default payment apps: HUAWEI Wallet, SIM card, and third-party payment apps.
- If you select HUAWEI Wallet as the default payment app:
Add your bank card and transport card to Wallet first, and then set it as the default payment app in the NFC settings screen.
-
You need to add your cards as prompted in Wallet.
-
The card supports NFC, and the payment supports NFC tags.
-
Certain transport cards are only valid in some areas.
-
If the balance of the payment card is insufficient, the NFC payment will fail. You can change the default payment card by performing the following: Open Wallet, go to , and set another card as the default card.
-
- If you select a third-party payment app as the default payment app:
Ensure that your phone is connected to the Internet and the screen is on.
-
If your device is a carrier-customized edition, turn on the read/write and point-to-point switches at the same time.
-
If the balance of your default bank card is insufficient, the NFC payment will fail. Change the default payment card and try again.
-
If you want to make a Quick Pass payment, your card and the POS machine must support the Quick Pass function (indicated with a Quick Pass icon).
-
- If you select your SIM card as the default payment app
Insert the SIM card into SIM 1 slot (SIM 2 slots on most models do not support NFC), and select your SIM card as the default NFC payment app.
-
Your SIM card must support NFC. For details, contact your SIM card carrier.
-
A bank card or transport card payment must be activated on your NFC SIM card. For details, contact your SIM card carrier.
-
If your device is a carrier-customized edition, turn on the read/write and point-to-point switches at the same time.
-
If the balance of your SIM card is insufficient, the NFC payment will fail. Top up your SIM card and try again.
-
Other precautions for using NFC
-
When reading an NFC card, the card must be facing the NFC antenna on your phone, and should be 1–2 cm away from your phone. When making NFC payments, adjust your phone so the NFC area is above the payment point.
-
If you are using a metal protective case, it will block NFC communication. It is recommended that you remove the case and try again.
-
If you want to change the payment card, raise your phone and try paying again.
-
Devices such as POS machines (supporting NFC) and subway turnstiles may have compatibility issues. If the NFC payment fails, move to another device and try again.
