The other party cannot hear me, the volume is low, or there are noises during a call

The sound quality during a phone call is mainly affected by audio-related components, the network signal quality, and other factors. If the sound during a phone call is abnormal, perform the following to troubleshoot:

Check whether there are any foreign objects blocking the sound output holes of the microphone, speaker, and receiver (if your phone emits sound directly from the display, skip this step.)

Check whether the protective case or film is blocking the audio output holes. If the audio output holes are dirty or blocked, use a soft brush dipped in alcohol to clean them.

Check whether the audio output of the device is normal

Open the My HUAWEI app or Support app, go to Service > Checkup > Other, search for and access the option to inspect audio issues, go to Troubleshooting > More > Other, search for and access the option to inspect audio issues, and Diagnose:

  • If any issue is found, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
  • If the audio output is normal, proceed to the next step.

Check whether the signal of the phone is normal

If the signal is abnormal, the call quality will be affected. In this case, refer to The phone has an unstable signal.

If you use a third-party app to make calls (such as WeChat and QQ), make sure that the signal reception is good.

Disable or enable VoLTE and check whether the issue is resolved

The quality of VoLTE calls will be affected if your area is not fully covered by the VoLTE network or if there are compatibility issues. This issue can be resolved by enabling or disabling the VoLTE feature. (If you cannot find the switch for VoLTE, it means that VoLTE is enabled on your phone by default.)

Reset all the settings and try again

If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
