The measurement of barometer or altitude is inaccurate |
Perform the following to troubleshoot:
Make sure that Online altitude calibration has been enabled
Ensure that Online altitude calibration has been enabled for the pre-installed Compass app. If it is not enabled, the altitude may be inaccurate when there is no Internet connection.
To enable this feature, open the Compass app, touch the three-dot menu in the upper right corner, and then enable Online altitude calibration.
Restart your phone
Restart your phone and try again.
Check whether the issue occurs with a third-party app
Some third-party apps cannot invoke the atmospheric pressure value or update the atmospheric pressure benchmark value over the Internet.
Update your phone to the latest version
Update your phone to the latest system version and try again.
If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
- Open the Compass app and see if the atmospheric pressure and altitude are displayed at the bottom. If so, your phone does support the barometer function.
- The barometer is a barometric pressure sensor, consisting of a rheostat and a capacitor. Resistance and capacitance change according to the barometric pressure, thus providing barometric pressure data. The altitude shown by the compass is calculated from the pressure detected by your device and the pressure at sea level for your current location. Therefore, the location permission and Internet access permission are required to obtain an accurate measurement result.
- The barometer works with your device's GPS to find your altitude, for example, when you are under an overpass or inside a high-rise building.
