Backing up data to an external storage device (USB flash drive, external hard drive, etc.) to create a system recovery drive

A system recovery drive enables you to back up all data from your desktop and drives. Once you have created a system recovery drive, a system image will be created on your Windows system that restores all data when your computer isn't working properly.

Before creating a system recovery drive, please ensure that your USB drive has sufficient space and is in NTFS format.

To create a recovery drive, perform the following:

  1. Enter Control Panel in the taskbar search box and click to open it.

  2. Select System and Security.

  3. Click Back up and Restore (Windows 7).

  4. Select Set up back-up.

  5. Select the drive in which you would like to save the backup, and click Next.

  6. Select either Let Windows choose or Let me choose, and click Next.

  7. Click Save settings and run backup. A pop-up message will be displayed when the backup has completed.
