Unable to use F10 to restore factory settings on my HUAWEI computer
| Unable to use F10 to restore factory settings on my HUAWEI computer |
The MateBook first-generation (Hertz) does not support the F10 one-key restoration feature.
Problem
- Pressing F10 cannot restore the HUAWEI computer to its factory settings.
- You cannot press F10 or use Huawei PC Manager to restore factory settings for non-factory Windows versions.
Cause
- This issue is caused by a patch pushed by Microsoft.
- The Windows operating system is reinstalled and the partition is formatted and deleted. As a result, the F10 one-key restoration feature becomes invalid.
- Hard disk partitions and hard disk configurations have been optimized by third-party software, or changed manually or by malicious programs. As a result, the F10 one-key restoration feature is abnormal.
Solution
- Data security: System restoration will delete data (including desktop files, downloads, and documents) and software installed on drive C. Back up data before restoring factory settings. After the factory settings are restored, the stored data on other drives such as the D drive is not affected. The green software (software that can be directly used after being downloaded and installed) can still be used, but other software can only be used after being reinstalled.
- Account and password: Remember the Microsoft account and password used to activate the Office software on your computer. After the restoration is complete, you need to enter the Microsoft account and password to configure the computer again.
- Enter the BIOS screen and disable secure boot:
a. Press F2 repeatedly in quick succession during computer startup to enter the Security screen in BIOS, and set Secure Boot to Disable.
b. Press F10 to save the settings and exit the BIOS screen. Then, shut down the computer.
c. Power off the computer and power it on again. Then, press F10 to restore factory settings.
d. After the factory settings are restored by pressing F10, enter the BIOS screen again by referring to step 1a, and set Secure Boot to Enable.
- If the issue persists, it is recommended that you use Windows Recovery instead of F10 one-key restoration.
