Unable to switch from my Microsoft account to a local account to sign in to the operating system

Problem

After logging in using the local account, then logging in to certain Microsoft apps, such as Microsoft Store and Office software, and following the onscreen instructions to sign in using the Microsoft account, only the Microsoft account can be used to sign in by default, when logging in again after restart, sleep, or hibernation.

Cause

After you sign in using your Microsoft account, your computer will switch your system account to the Microsoft account by default.

Solution

After using Microsoft apps, perform the following operations to switch to your local account to avoid using the Microsoft account by default for the next login.

Press Win+I to access the Windows Settings screen, go to Accounts > Your info, and click Sign in with a local account instead.
