Unable to set or use a PIN after restoring the computer to its factory settings, or updating the system |
Problem
After using F10 to restore the computer to its factory settings or updating the system, the PIN can't be set or used.
Solution
- Enter C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft in the search box on the taskbar, and open the folder.
If you are unable to find a certain file folder, click View from the menu bar in File Explorer, and select Hidden items. The hidden file folders will then appear. If this issue persists, open the C drive to find the folder based on the root directory and path.
- Right-click Ngc, select Properties, and go to Security > Advanced.
- In Advanced Security Settings, click Change.
- Enter your user name (for example, test) in the dialog box to the left of Check Names, and select OK.
- In Advanced Security Settings for Ngc, select Replace owner on subcontainers and objects, and click OK on the subsequent screen.
- Select Ngc to delete this folder. If the Ngc folder can't be deleted, use F10 to restore to factory settings. Please note that restoring the computer to its factory settings will clear all data in the C drive, including personal files downloaded in Desktop, Downloads, and Documents. Please back up your important data in the C drive.
- Restart the computer and enter your PIN and fingerprint again. (If the issue persists, check whether you can find the Ngc folder. If not, create a folder in the preceding path and name it Ngc.)
- If this issue persists, it may be because the fingerprint sensor hardware is faulty. It is recommended that you back up any important data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance. For details, please refer to the inspection results provided by the authorized Huawei Customer Service Center.
