How to save my HUAWEI laptop from liquid damage

  • HUAWEI laptops are not waterproof.
  • Warranty will be affected if liquid damage occurs, which should be detected by a Huawei Customer Service Center.

Most liquids are conductive. Once liquids enter the laptop, the keyboard may become faulty, the laptop may become short-circuited, or irreparable faults may even occur. If liquid damage should occur, perform the following operations:

  1. Disconnect the laptop from the adapter, charging cable, and any other external devices immediately. If the laptop is still powered on, power it off immediately. If it has been powered off, do not try powering it on.
  2. Tilt the laptop to the lower right or lower left corner about 60 degrees and keep it (do not tilt the computer to the upper side to prevent liquid from flowing through positions that are easily short-circuited, such as the charging port) until the liquid is exhausted. Then use a soft, absorptive cloth to remove any water stain from the surface of the laptop.
  3. Dry the laptop using a dryer in cold air mode (for more than 15 minutes). Hot air may damage internal components.
After performing the preceding operations, avoid powering on the laptop and take it to a Huawei Customer Service Center as soon as possible for assistance, as liquid may remain in the gaps between components.

If no dryer is available or there is no Huawei Customer Service Center nearby, you can open the laptop lid at least 90 degrees and place your laptop still in a dry and well-ventilated environment (recommendation: for more than four hours in summer or more than 12 hours in winter). After drying, avoid powering on the laptop and take it to a Huawei Customer Service Center as soon as possible for assistance

Daily usage tips:

  • Use the laptop in a dry environment, and avoid using it in a hot, high-humidity environment.
  • Keep cups, bottles, or any containers with liquids in them away from your laptop, or close their covers.
  • If you are exposed to corrosive liquids such as sea water, pool water, salt water, ionized water, alcoholic beverages, sugary beverages, cosmetics, or detergents, wipe your hands before using the laptop.
