Stethoscope effect on HUAWEI earbuds

The stethoscope effect is common on in-ear earbuds. The earbuds are susceptible to microphones when the cable or earbuds brush up against or come in contact with air or other objects.

A thumping sound can be heard after you wear HUAWEI FreeBuds Studio headphones, as the ear cups and your ear canal form an enclosed space, which resembles wearing a stethoscope. This is a normal phenomenon and does not affect your normal use.

The stethoscope effect is difficult to eliminate, but can be reduced. To reduce the stethoscope effect, try the following:

  1. Reduce the contact between the earbuds and your clothes. For example, avoid rubbing the earbud cables against your clothing.
  2. Avoid using ear tips that are too large for your ears. The stethoscope effect will increase when the ear tips fit more tightly in your ears.
