An error occurs when using the computer to transfer files using Bluetooth

Problem

Scenario 1: Slow Bluetooth file transfer.

Scenario 2: Sometimes files cannot be transferred using Bluetooth.

Scenario 3: I was prompted that there was insufficient storage space when I transferred a file via Bluetooth.

Cause and solution

Scenario 1: This happens because the Bluetooth bandwidth is not large enough to enable fast file transfers using Bluetooth. To resolve this issue, perform the following:

1. After pairing your Bluetooth device, exit the Bluetooth pairing settings and click the Bluetooth icon on the taskbar to send or receive files. If you do not exit the Bluetooth pairing settings, your computer will continue to search for other Bluetooth devices, which may interfere with file transmission.

2. Check whether your computer and the Bluetooth device are too far apart. A greater distance between the two devices results in a weaker Bluetooth signal and slower file transmission.

3. If the file is large in size (for example, larger than 100 MB), it is recommended that you use Wi-Fi, USB, or another transfer method.

Scenario 2: This is due to the Bluetooth bandwidth not being large enough to enable a fast file transfer using Bluetooth. In this case, the transfer is more likely to time out, which results in the file transfer failure. If the size of the file you want to transfer is less than or equal to 100 MB, you can try to transfer it again. Otherwise, it is recommended that you use Wi-Fi, USB, or another transfer method.

Scenario 3: Windows 10 limits the size of files that can be transferred over Bluetooth to 4.2 GB. If the file you are sending exceeds this limit, a message will be displayed informing you that there is insufficient storage space.
