SpO2 measurements generate no results or produce inaccurate readings on my HUAWEI watch/band
SpO2 measurements generate no results or produce inaccurate readings on my HUAWEI watch/band |
Make sure that your watch/band and the Huawei Health app have been updated to their latest versions.
If the issue persists, troubleshoot depending on your specific scenario.
The device is not correctly worn
- For optimal measurement accuracy, it's important to wear your watch/band properly with a snug fit, ensuring that the device rear case is clean, dry, and free of foreign objects. After wearing it in a shower or during a swim, be sure to wipe your wrist and the device dry before putting it back on.
- Fasten the strap snugly at least one finger width above your wrist bone for the best possible fit.
- SpO2 data accuracy may be affected by factors like arm hair, tattoos, and scars. Avoid wearing your watch/band over a tattoo or scar.
- To start an SpO2 measurement, first lay your arm flat on a table with the device screen facing up, and then touch the start button. Hold your arm still during the measurement.
- If several consecutive measurements fail with the device in the same position on your wrist, move it slightly up or down or wear it on your other wrist to try again.
- For optimal measurement accuracy, it is advised to wait 3–5 minutes after wearing your device before measuring your SpO2.
The ambient temperature is too low (< 15°C)
- Low ambient temperatures can impede blood flow in your wrist, affecting signal reception on the sensor located in the device rear case and causing SpO2 measurement errors.
- It is advised to keep the device snugly on your wrist for at least 10 minutes and stay in a quiet, resting state in a relaxed environment at room temperature (about 25°C).
- If you need to measure your SpO2 in cold environments like high-altitude areas or outdoors in winter, first take off your watch/band, then warm or rub your arm for a few minutes to improve blood circulation before starting a measurement.
The switch for auto SpO2 measurement is disabled
- Go to Huawei Health > Devices, touch the connected watch/band card to access the device management screen, select Health monitoring, and toggle on .
Mountain hike or Skiing mode is enabled
SpO2 measurements are automatically performed every 10 minutes during a mountain hike or ski, during which you'll need to hold still and keep the device screen facing up. Each time you take a rest during the workout, you can try to meet the preceding conditions for an auto SpO2 measurement to work.
Nighttime SpO2 is abnormally low
Abnormally low SpO2 readings at night may be linked to snoring, which can obstruct breathing. Prolonged apnea caused by snoring can result in low SpO2 levels. It is recommended that you measure again while awake.
Pressing the Down button too hard while using Health Glance causes the device rear case to bulge
A bulging rear case will affect the sensor's ability to receive the necessary signal for SpO2 measurement. It is recommended that you gently place your finger on the electrode (Down button) and hold still.
The watch is disconnected from the Huawei Health app, leading to inaccurate time on the watch and failed SpO2 measurements
When the watch is not charged in a timely manner after power-off due to a low battery level, remains disconnected from the phone for an extended period, or becomes disconnected after a forcible restart, time synchronization will fail on the watch. In such cases, the SpO2 service would not function properly. To get the feature working again, simply restore the Bluetooth connection by pairing your watch again with your phone or with Huawei Health.
If the issue persists
All monitoring data and results from your watch/band are for reference only, and should not be used as a basis for medical diagnosis or treatment.
If none of the above resolved the problem, call the Huawei customer service hotline for further assistance.
