Unable to uninstall third-party programs from my HUAWEI Windows computer

Problem

Third-party apps and programs cannot be uninstalled from HUAWEI Windows computers.

Cause

The uninstall process interferes with third-party processes.

Solution

  1. To uninstall apps and programs:
    1. In the Start menu:
      1. Click the Windows icon, and find the app you want to uninstall.
      2. Right-click on the app and select Uninstall.

    2. In the Settings menu:
      1. Click the Windows icon, then go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.

Click here to open apps and features.

      2. Select the app you want to uninstall and click Uninstall.

        On Windows 10

        On Windows 11

    3. In Control Panel (applicable to programs):
      1. Enter "control panel" in the search box on the task bar, and select Control Panel in the results to open it.

      2. Go to Programs > Programs and Features.

      3. Right-click on the program that you want to uninstall, and select Uninstall or Uninstall/Change. Then follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the program.

  2. If the methods above do not apply:
    1. Via Windows Registry:

To prevent risks caused by incorrectly modifying the registry, make sure that you back up the registry in advance and follow the steps carefully as stated in Backing up and restoring the registry data.

      1. Press Win+R to access the Run command. Enter regedit and then click OK.

      2. In Registry Editor, go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall] > Uninstall. Find the target file to be deleted, right-click on it, and select Delete. Restart the computer, and then uninstall the program in Add or remove programs.

      3. If the Delete option is not available, select Permissions instead.
      4. In Permissions for PC Manager, check the Allow box for Full Control, and then click Apply. Now the Delete option should be available.

    2. Via Safe Mode (F8 key):
      1. Enter Safe Mode following the steps as stated in Uninstall updated software in Safe Mode.
      2. Follow the reference above to uninstall software and programs.
    3. If a program is not visible in Control Panel > Programs and Features, this program can be uninstalled by deleting all related files from all folders where the program is located and deleting its desktop shortcut.
