My HUAWEI foldable phone makes a sound when it is folded or the screen is pressed

Problem 1:

(1) The foldable phone makes a sound when it is folded or unfolded.

(2) The foldable phone makes a sound not ever heard before after it has been used for a period of time.

(3) The phone makes a sound, whereas other foldable phones do not.

(4) The phone makes a louder sound than other foldable phones.

(5) The phone makes a sound when being folded or unfolded for the first time, but no longer does so after being folded and unfolded several times.

Solution:

Foldable phones feature a unique hinge structure, and generates a sound (the sound may vary depending on the individual phone) when being folded and unfolded. This is normal and does not indicate any issue with your phone.

Mate X3/X5/X6:

1. The foldable phone adopts a complex mechanical hinge transmission mode. The hinge consists of components such as cams, so it may generate sounds when the phone is unfolded or folded.

2. The current-generation devices come equipped with an organic polymer flexible screen. The screen can be bent and consists of several stacked layers. When the phone is folded, the stacked layers will generate sound.

3. The device adopts the ultra-cooling cross-axis graphene heat dissipation system, so that the ultra-thin device body can show a good heat dissipation effect. The graphene slides and generates sound when the phone is folded.

4. If you can hear a click sound followed by an electrical current sound when the screen is bent at a small angle, the click sound is made by the hinge, and the electrical current sound is generated as the internal screen and stacked layers are squeezed. All HUAWEI devices have been inspected in the lab and meet the criterion. The issue does not effect the features and performance.

Other foldable phone models: Back up your data in advance and take your device and proof of purchase to a nearby Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.

Problem 2:

A sound is made when the screen is pressed.

Reply 2:

The internal screen of the foldable phone is soft. It contacts with the components under the screen when you press the screen, and it pops up when you release your finger. It is normal that you hear a sound when you press the screen. The actual situation may differ, because the dimensions of the components vary slightly. HUAWEI phones have passed strict performance inspection before delivery.

If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance. To save your time, you can make a reservation before going to a service center, by opening the My HUAWEI app and going to Support > Repair appointment/Service centers.
