My HUAWEI laptop cannot be powered on when the battery level is low, and can only be powered on after it is connected to a power adapter

Problem

  • In a low-temperature environment, the battery level is still high before the computer is powered off. However, when the user tries to power on the computer after a period of time, the computer cannot be powered on due to a low battery level.
  • After being left idle for a long time, the computer displays the low battery icon when the user tries to power on the computer, and the computer can only be powered on when it is connected to a power adapter. When the computer is powered on, the battery level is low.
  • When the battery level of the computer is lower than 6%, the computer cannot be powered on and the low battery icon is displayed after the computer is connected to a power adapter via a docking station.

Cause

  • The computer uses a lithium battery whose discharge capability is greatly affected by the temperature. A higher temperature results in a larger battery discharge capacity and a lower temperature results in a smaller battery discharge capacity.
  • If the battery level becomes low or battery over-discharge protection is triggered after a computer has been left idle for a long time, the computer system cannot be started properly when you power on the computer again.
  • When the laptop is connected to a docking station, it first supplies power to the docking station. If the battery level is lower than 6%, the laptop cannot allow the docking station to work properly. Therefore, the adapter cannot supply power to the laptop through the docking station. As a result, the laptop cannot be powered on.

Solution

  1. It is recommended that you connect your device to a standard power adapter and charge it for 30 minutes before powering it on.

If the battery is idle for a long time, the capacity may decrease. Charge the battery when the battery level is low.

  2. Connect the computer to a power adapter to charge the computer. Check whether the battery level is lower than 6% after the computer is powered on. If the battery level is lower than 6%, it is recommended that you connect the power adapter to the charging port of the computer and charge the computer for 30 minutes or longer before powering it on.

    • When the battery level is lower than 6% (detected by the circuit controller), use the power adapter delivered with your device to charge it.
    • When the battery level is low, it is normal that the charging speed is slow. It is recommended that you charge your device when it is in sleep mode or powered off. Do not overuse it when the battery level is low. Charge it with a power adapter in a timely manner.
