Setting the Wi-Fi encryption mode of a HUAWEI CPE |
CPEs support the following Wi-Fi encryption modes: no encryption, WEP, WPA2 PSK, and WPA/WPA2 PSK. Some CPEs also support the WPA3-SAE and WPA2-PSK/WPA3-SAE modes. The actual supported modes may vary.
- If the encryption mode is set to no encryption, no password is required for connecting to the Wi-Fi of the CPE, which may cause security risks.
- The WPA2 PSK mode is more secure than the WPA/WPA2 PSK mode. However, only devices authenticated by WPA2 can be normally connected, which may cause compatibility issues.
- When the encryption mode is set to WPA/WPA2 PSK, devices authenticated by WPA or WPA2 can connect to the CPE.
- When the encryption mode is set to WEP, certain functions, such as WPS and HiLink, are unavailable due to security reasons.
It is recommended that you set the CPE to the WPA/WPA2 PSK hybrid mode to ensure high security and compatibility.
- Connect your computer to the CPE's Wi-Fi (or to the CPE's LAN port using a cable). Enter 192.168.8.1 in the address box of the browser, and enter the login password to access the management page of the CPE.
- Go to Wi-Fi Settings > Wi-Fi Basic Settings, expand the Security mode drop-down list box, select the required mode, and click Save.
