HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro series earbuds do not respond or respond slowly to the pinch shortcut

Perform the following to troubleshoot:

Third-party apps, such as WeChat, QQ, WeCom, Lark, Yixin, DingTalk, and WhatsApp, do not support answering or hanging up calls using the pinch shortcut.

  1. Check whether the pinch feature is enabled by going to Gestures > Pinch & hold in the AI Life app.
  2. For FreeBuds Pro earbuds, pinch and hold on the middle of the earbud stem. For FreeBuds Pro 2, pinch and hold on the lower middle of the earbud stem. For FreeBuds Pro 4 and FreeBuds Pro 3, pinch and hold on the groove on the side of the earbud stem. Then release your thumb until you hear the prompt tone. If you do not hear the prompt tone, pinch and hold on the earbud with slightly more force, as shown below.

  3. The earbuds may come loose in your ears. Adjust the way you wear the earbuds or replace the ear tips with another pair that better fits your ears.
  4. When the phone screen is locked, pinching the earbud may not resume playback until the phone screen is unlocked. In this case, go to Settings > Battery > More battery settings and enable Stay connected while asleep.
  5. Ensure that Bluetooth control or wired playback control of the media player is enabled. For example, open the HUAWEI Music app, touch the four-dot icon in the upper right corner, and go to Settings > Control playback with Bluetooth devices.
  6. There may be an error with the third-party music app. Use HUAWEI Music instead.

If the issue persists, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
